MrSunshineBaby wants to sue
Canadian YouTuber passed 300,000 subscriber mark while in the penalty box for a week for "medical misinformation."
Hi! Today’s exclusive for Substack readers is the story of Patrick Vaillancourt, better known as the YouTuber MrSunshineBaby. The former military veteran who suffered PTSD now makes a go of it making conservative political commentary covering news on YouTube. He spent Canada Day banned from the platform for reasons I explain in my article.

YouTube strike for medical misinformation leaves MrSunshineBaby seeking lawsuit
“Lawyers are scared to fight this…medical misinformation, cancel culture, or they're afraid to go up against YouTube.”
By Lee Harding
A popular Canadian political YouTuber wants to sue the platform provider over what he believes is a bogus strike against his channel.
MrSunshineBaby, whose real name is Patrick Vaillancourt, made his announcement in a July 3 video on the offended platform itself. He said the strike came for alleged medical misinformation for a video released in mid-May.
An identical version of the video remains on his Rumble of the same name under the title “Leaked Phone Call Confirms Mandatory Vaccines In Canada.”
“We knew that the Liberals were scumbags. We knew that they were extremely greasy. We know that they want to manipulate the world into this New World Order or whatever you want to call it. But we didn’t know that they’re still holding onto these vaccine mandates, that they actually want to bring them back,” the video logger said over a month ago.
“A lot of censorship is happening here on YouTube, which is why I always encourage you to give a like,…subscribe and to turn those post notifications on because we have to fight the Trudeau algorithm.”
Mr Sunshine did not know this very video would make him Mr Darkness by the end of June, blacked out of his channel for a week by the strike YouTube censors gave his channel.
The original video outlined the Liberal platform which still called for mandatory vaccines for travellers on federally-regulated vessels and for the federal civil service.
“And the final point is make sure you’re subscribed to MrSunshineBaby because we’re coming after him and his YouTube channel. I swear to God that’s what’s on the flyer,” Mr. Sunshine half-joked at the time.
“Guys, this is scary, scary stuff. There’s a huge attack on the Canadian democracy. There has been for a very long time. The fact they want to force vaccine mandates still? It’s just crazy.”
The video includes a conversation posted to Twitter by Odsessa Orlewicz where she asked an MP’s assistant whether the Liberals were considering renewing such mandates as their platform suggested. The staffer agreed.
“Is there an IQ test that comes with being a member of Parliament?” Olewicz asked.
“Michael, he’s my neighbour…He had a Liberal fundraiser at his home, not this election, I guess the previous one, that I attended with all the MPs [and] all the wannabe MPs…He is currently severely vaccine injured. Severely. He’s dying. He calls himself the walking dead. He’s in the hospital all the time.
“Maybe all of you guys, those guys, those MPs who want to get elected and the MPs that are currently elected–need to speak with him. He’s one of hundreds of thousands of people and he’s alive. There’s many who have died from this.”
Mr Sunshine offered his own comments, adding, “Anyone who doubts the whole vaccine injury stuff, it’s kind of crazy because Canada started a vaccine injury program for [COVID-19 vaccines] alone…This is a real thing. I’ve talked about it on this channel, the first person to have ever been awarded, I covered that story months and months ago when it just happened.”
Canada’s Vaccine Injury Support Program has received 1859 claims, but 240 were declared inadmissible. The medical review board has completed 467 reviews and approved 103 for compensation. In addition, 64 appeals have taken place, of which 14 have been assessed, and less than five approved.
According to statistics updated June 1, $6,695,716 of compensation has been awarded. The site will not release updated statistics again until December 1.
An analysis of VAERS in June 2022 published by the US National Institutes of Health revealed 314,610 adverse reactions in that country, but found vaccine injuries to be much more rare.
In his recent video announcing his intention to sue, Mr Sunshine said he had been “doing man stuff and cutting wood” waiting for his week in the penalty box to expire.
“I've just been enjoying my time with my family and mustering in just absolute complete anger,” he said in an ironically friendly fashion.
“Also watching my channel while I'm not able to post or announce it crossed the threshold of 300,000 subscribers was just a very emotional experience.”
The former military veteran, who suffered PTSD and lived in a van for awhile, said his subscribers on Rumble numbered just 11,800 and “was not scaleable,” leading him to remain on the his primary platform. He asked 30 lawyers to help him sue YouTube, but without success.
“They all come back saying the exact same thing. We don't have the time or the resources to be able to take you on as a client, which means that lawyers are scared to fight this, like, medical misinformation, cancel culture, or they're afraid to go up against YouTube,” he said.
“I do love YouTube, I love the community, I love the features of YouTube. But when they choose to do this to a creator, they just shut the doors on them.”
YouTube allows viewers to join the channel to sponsor at various levels. Perks begin at the Toonie level, and continue at the “beer” level of $4.99. Other levels of sponsorship include “honk honk” at $29.99, “fronge minority” at $79.99 and “truck off Trudeau” at $149.99 monthly.
An online MrSunshineBaby Shop on Shopify includes white or black shirts, caps, and mugs with slogans like “Keep calm and fight for freedom” and “Keep calm and never vote Liberal.”
